Subject: RE: Working job off the farm

Columbus, TX
I'm in your same shoes right now. Constantly putting the pen to the paper and seeing what I can make work. I think I've finally gotten to the point where I can give up the off farm job, but I got a daughter on the way and want to make sure to take advantage of my health insurance.
I asked this same question not long ago and got a lot of great responses. I remember one response was that when the off farm job starts making you lose profit from the farming operation, then it's time to give it up.
I've also thrown around other ideas like hiring a hand full time. I would basically be paying him a little less than my salary from the off farm job. Benefit would be I get to keep great health insurance with the company. There's a lot to think about for sure. But I also believe that if a person never takes the plunge, then he/she will never know if it would of worked out or not.
