My dad was a rural postal carrier for 32 or 33 years also. So I know how thankless the job is. Muddy roads, snow cold, hot, dust, worn out vehicles, no substitute carriers. I bet he trained 20 different substitutes through the years, and none of them lasted very long. Some just lasted a day.
