North End I-15 | Back in the 40's through the 60's meals were brought to the field . Same as we ate at the farm house table .
We ate on Folding chairs with card tables set up in the stubble fields .
When I came back to the farm I bought a VW Van and set up a table for the crew in side . We would trade off jobs while the crew ran, ate.
Harvest ran steady from start up a bit tough to a bit tough at night . On occasions we ran 24- 7 weather permitting .
But then that was the "Olden Days "
As we got older we hired custom harvesters.
All my "Free Help" got older and retired.
One Neighbor had a motor home. He deducted as a Meal on Wheels for harvest- seeding help.
Stood up to a IRS challenge .
Later" Meals on Wheels" was a larger Ford Van .
I had painted "BJ's Meals on Wheels" on the side .
Wifes sister and here were the B and J .
Good Years , Great memories of a family harvest where all pitched in to do their job . | |
