Napanee, Ontario | "There is no need for an interest rate hike."
I think my buddy who has his retired parents living back at his house might disagree with you.
0% works both ways. It means zero return. Why would someone invest into a zero return environment?
I mean, this is somewhat devil's advocate as we've enjoyed low rates on our borrowed money. But the real reason rates are low isn't to spurn investment... its to loosen the screws on uncle Sam's 20 trillion $$ debt load. And the people paying for it are retiree's and people on fixed income.
But of course, we have to go through all this pretend song and dance every three months. If we weren't BS'ing ourselves, the FED press release would be really simple:
"Government still spending like drunken sailors buying votes and lining their buddies' pockets, debt still over 20 trillion, rates staying low." End statement.
