The phrase "figures don't lie but liars will figure" might have been written or uttered about a fiber salesman. They extrapolate tensile strength of reinforcing steel (40,000 pounds per square inch or higher) against a greater value for fiberglass rod per square inch, then cut it into small strands without ANY provision for it to restrain the concrete. If you actually want fiber to replace steel, tie a knot in each end of every strand so that it doesn't pull out of the concrete matrix, then it may approach steel. End of yet another attempt to educate the masses.

It does have a effect on surface dying cracks, but so does proper concrete finishing and curing.
