I installed AVG free but couldn't get it to update.

Tried a number of things but nothing worked, uninstall, reinstall, uninstall use different site for AVG free. etc.

Gave up, installed Microsoft Security Essentials.  It downloads part way but won't install updates.

Now downloaded Malwarebytes and it can't connect to the server to get updates.

I've downloaded LibreOffice, Firefox, Java, and a few other regular programs without any problem.  The computer is Windows 7 and it's a clean install.  Downloaded SP1 and burned a DVD with the update without problems too.

I'm now running a scan with Malwarebytes without it's update.

I looked at services and don't see anything running that is odd or unusual.
