NW Ohio | I prefer absolute. I made a bracket that mounts to a telephone pole that I put the globe on, as a vehicleunder RTK connected to a 2630 I get a 5 min average for the position then I enter the Alt/Lat /Lon into the absolute. At this point shut down the system (save settings) Now all you need is the power cable, set it up on the T-pole and give it power, no fuss with control points or re-bench.
If you do quick survey, every time your base fires up, it does a quick survey under WAAS data. In doing so I have seen X and Y (Lat/Lon) very anywhere up to 10' and Z (Alt) up to 30'. Without the control point/benchmark your prior survey data/layout is garbage without the "same" base.
Even with an absolute survey base, it is a good practice to set a control point. Trimble WM-Drain requires a benchmark prior to working in the field. | |
