Do some research and spend as much as you need to get what you want. My dream stove is in the 5-10k range on price, but would be a restaurant quality machine, most people don't want or need that though.

You can probably get what you want for under $1000, but make sure it will do what you need it to. Example would be a couple high power burners that will boil a pot fast or get hot to sear a steak(yes, sometimes it's ok to sear a steak in the house) or whatever you are doing. A convection oven is really nice for more even baking, etc. Just figure out what you need and find one that will last and give you those things.
