Central In | It's nice to see something different. I like raising tasty watermelons and cantaloupes/crenshaws. They can be a challenge without enough rotation time because of disease...I don't fumigate.
Around here they raise large Honey Rocks I believe in sw Inaiana which are good, but not as good as the undiseased Burpee Crenshaw...15-22 pounders. I like Raspa seeded red the best. Seedless don't have as much flavor as the Raspas.
When planting into rich and new soil for watermelons, it is amazing what they can do. In 2010 I had such a spot. I had just one watermelon that survived the near ponding there. It produced 234 pounds and I had to pick off about 20 more small melons. | |
