Subject: Sunflowers-blackbird season is approaching best methods to fight them??

Norwich, ND
Just as the title says, seeing some blackbirds show up in neighboring feilds so my guess is they are in mine as well. What methods have guys had best luck with in fighting these s.o.b's? Been a few years since we grew flowers and looks like a real nice crop out there so I will spend some coin if there's a method that is somewhat successful. I have a few bird cannons from previous years growing them, but they just seem like they will fly 100ft away and start eating there so I'm not real hip on using them. Bird shield or flock buster worth a shot? I know we've used it before but don't recall what the results were like. Any inputs are appreciated as I am willing to try anything to help avoid the problem as much as I can. Thanks!
