+ on Allopurinol

For quick relief Indomethacin is FANTASTIC!  It is not a long term drug but if are having an attack it will get you going quickly.

When I first had an attack the Dr gave me most of the menu suggestions others have mentioned.  Then he told me I'd be back within 2 years and want meds.  He was correct.  I was driving a gas truck and walking across the parking lot to my truck when it hit again.  I just turned around and walked back in the office and told them I was going the Dr.  The office gals kind of made fun of me.  One asked what it felt like?  I said "Ever have an ingrown toe nail?"
"Yes."
"Hit it with a hammer."
I went to the Dr and got a prescription for Indomethacin to cover the attack and maintenance with a daily Allopurinol.

Oh, and a few years later one of the office gals apologized.  She had a gout attack and decided I was correct.
