Minneota, MN | I don't have a Chromebook, but as I understand it, Chromebooks shine as impressive, primarily cloud-based devices.
My suggestion is to use Google Drive to automatically back up/sync all your local files to the cloud (pictures and all documents automatically sync to the cloud--or use Google Photos to automatically backup your photos). Use Gmail (or another cloud-based) email account and you never have to worry about local storage going corrupt.
