Ah... The view that inspired the words to "America the Beautiful".

My wife and I drove to the top a few years ago in mid August. The sun was shining as we looked down upon a thunderstorm going over Manitou Springs. The next day, I took the Barr trail up from Manitou Springs to the summit and back down again. This time there was sleet and snow above the tree line, but it was nearly 70 degrees and sunny again when I got back to the bottom. It's really amazing how much changes from 6000 feet to 14000 feet in elevation. -an adventure for a flat lander for sure, literally like walking up to the clouds. Didn't ride the cog railway. Looks like fun. Enjoy your stay.
