Could be problems with an extension not working properly.
In settings from browser top right go to extensions and you should see an option to  update all.
If no improvement it might help to un-install Chrome completely and re-install it.
Do this from Control Panel Add/remove program.
When you log in all your old favourites etc should re-appear.
