North Central Illinois | Same here also. Cut a few acres of second cutting a week ago Monday. Forecast was humid, but I thought maybe I could get it dry and it needed to be cut. Not quite dry on Thursday and we got 1.3", then another 2" Saturday night. Finally got dry enough to get it baled yesterday. Not good feed, but perhaps it will be good filler when the cows are grazing oats and brassica this fall.
I called the neighbor with a wrapper and cut the second cutting off of my new seedings Monday. Baled and wrapped it yesterday afternoon. Costs a little extra, but better than brown rained on junk, and the yellow strips that show up under the swath when the stuff gets rained on.
Corn and beans both look good here too. | |
