daddycal - 7/27/2016 07:57 I know when we fed with Norm Haaland we always made money as we valued our Steers based on Steer caif prices and then began the partnership. I think we went in with more initial investment than him but still made over a $100 on each steers and we calculated as our investment the interest on our input. The way we are sitting now our Steers will net $830 at the ranch and that is 600 pound steers. If we add 5 percent interest to cover our investment from November one to JUly 1, That is an initial $27.66 dollars and then we have to figure a death loss that might be but could be 2 percent. That is an additional $17.1532 so if we had this situation for a share deal what costs will our feeder incur? I know Trucking is about $38 on 105 steers for a thousand miles. So there is yardage and feed and I am guessing the Steers will need to gain roughly 750 pounds and I am guessing yardage at $.30 and feed costs at, and I am only guessing, $.60 a pound ( $.60 times 750=$450) so with trucking, ( $38)yardage, ( $72) the feeder will invest . $560 So I am at $871.81 Feeder at $560 we are sitting at $1434.81 for break even so that is $1.06 for fat If the Fat can get $1.10 we got a profit of $50 if we get a $50 CAB we are at a hundred dollars. Do we split the $100 56 percent for me and 44 percent for the feeder? an additional $56 for me would be a 6.4 percent profit. and 7.8 percent over cost for feeder. How close am I for anyone who wants to share feed and yardage costs
I e-mailed you some info.
