Hottest summer on record here. Great grandad talked about sleeping in the yard and plowing corn at night with lanterns tied to the horse harness. Neighbor remembered threshing wheat on a place I still farm on the hottest day in history of central IL. Was that the year of the cinch bugs? He talked about plowing ditches around fields and pouring creosote in the furrows. And we think we got it bad!
