Carroll, OH | Keep the rye rate low, say 15 to 20lbs and there should be little issue with N deficiency, especially if you terminate early, or at least not in the reproductive stage. Use starter, or boost it with some 28% just to be sure there is enough N to get you to sided dress timing. The vetch in the mix will decompose relatively quickly and add some N in the spring. If you want this to work it comes down to management and being flexible with termination and adding N in your program if it is needed. | |
