Nebraska aka the boondocks | I agree with you ahay. I followed the hay thread. I used to put up 1000 acres of alfalfa, got out in 2004, made no sense anymore. Everybody now has a high capacity baler. I was charging $8 bale and $12 acre to swath, figured needed $65 a ton to break even on rented ground. Today ground is twice as much and alfalfa in field is only $75 ton. Doesn't take a genius to fill in blanks. Inputs are nuts and in Nebraska we have to tip the dealer $100 an acre .
