Is the technology there with tile laying machines to do this? A lot of that 80 according to the soil maps is 0-2% slopes. So in theory it could be done. At what depth is a normal run where you are that flat. It the slopes where worse, I assume you end up deeper to compensate/get through the slope with the mains? It would be perfect if you could control the water flow. And yes I would "valve" it off for the summer to hold the water in the field. I've even had a crazy idea that you could run a water tank float system with the gravity/water pressure of the tile pipe when things are being held back.
