It doesn't develop overnight, but it blows up in one growing season.  I still remember going to a buddy's bachelor party at Lake of the Ozarks in late summer of 2010, and about an hour south of here it was very obvious that Roundup Ready was busted.  After that trip I started ramping up countermeasures, but it sure didn't take long for the fight to get here too.
