Subject: corn height

South-central ohio
Anybody have any suggestions as to why in a certain area of my field with silt loam soils the corn is 4-5 feet tall then in another part, with silty clay soils the corn is only 2-3 feet tall. Will the shorter stuff catch up to the taller plants or will they always be short? The tall and short plants both look good, some even have tillers, its just the noticable difference in height. The corn in the bottom pic is about 18 inches above the yardstick. The first pic it is about level with it. This is within the same row. Question from a new farmer here.
