Aaron from agsnap has a nice article on that topic, don't try too hard to save money, invest wisely and you'll get a more satisfying experience in return.
Make sure to get a Intel i5 or i7 processor, I always get the i7 because it's not that much more money even though it's probably overkill for most people. Also a SSD is not optional ITS ESSENTIAL!
