| I have a 14 ton Westendorf gear that I pulled off of my dads chopper box. Can go 60mph down the road and it pulls perfect. Anyways its a super nice gear and I want to put a flatbed on it what length would do you think would fit it good. I want it big and I do 6 foot round bales but would a 24 foot length be to long on a single axle gear? |

Hodgenville KY | Its not so much the length of bed as what you use for a sill or frame to support the bed. the front axle will have to be about 2' back from front of bed for hitch to work properly placement of rear axle may be about 6' from rear of bed. So if you use an I-beam you can stretch it out to 25'. |

north-central Indiana west of Fulton | 24' would nicely hold 4 long of 6' bales. We haul 4 long of 5' bales on a 20'. For you to be able to get more than 4 long it would probably need to be several feet longer than you could go on a single axle. As mentioned you probably need to go steel I beam ....we used 20' long 2x12" sandwiched together for ours.

Ringwood, IL (NEIL) | I built a 30' rack on a Meyer 12 ton tandem gear. It worked fine but it was way too long to maneuver easily. 24' should be fine, just keep in mind how cumbersome a long wagon with a long tongue can be. |
