SE Michigan
Got a head of the co-op this weekend. Planted about 30 acres of beans with out fertilizer. Would it be better to spreads with my pull behind spreader 11-15 tires pulled with 14.9's on the tractor or have a floater(terigator) do it??
Beans are full till planted in 15" rows. Ground is very dry. Beans in the ground for 24-48 hours

Believe the floater would be my choice.

Your choice. I can't see how it would make any difference which way you got it spread.

On dry ground.................I don't think it would matter.

Floater will do less damage. The weight will be spread out better than the pull type. I do it all of the time at work with corn and beans both when we get behind. I have even run in corn and beans that are up with the TerraGator and you cannot tell I was in there.

The only thing you have to watch is if the beans are starting to get their neck out you need to wait until the leaves are out or you will snap the neck and kill the beans. I would rather go into beans with a trifoliate or two out than just the first 2 leaves.

I've gotten so I hate to run anything over planted ground. With that being said, I would go with the floater at a slight angle to the rows. I had terrible emergence problems this year where the floater ran.

Rowed beans or drilled? If the ground is really dry it probably wont matter what option you choose but if you planted rowed beans you might feel better pull a spreader between the rows ( assuming your tractor and spreader can straddle the rows) even if they just freshly planted.
