Eastern North Carolina | I see why they only made one, not exactly industrial art is it?

SC WI | Seen that today on Facebook too the story behind it was pretty cool too, and how they tested them across from John Deere before the 1000 series came out to make and how it made JD hold off on the release of there own 4wd tractors and take them back to the drawing board not knowing what Steiger had up there sleeves.

central ohio..between Springville and Millbrook. | i can picture the engineers conversation. "step one: unhook the back half of a 4wd Steiger. step two: slap an Axle and turf tires on from a 2805 Massey. step three: hook up power steering lines. Presto....a 2wd Steiger!!!!!! it's been a long morning boys. let's go get lunch!!!" Edited by HeyhayJCM 5/30/2016 21:59

Versatile had something equally as ugly back in the last days of the 145 4WD. I saw a picture once in a dealers office, they made a 2 WD and used it around the plant to move inventory. Needless to say we could see why they stopped at 1.

Sunburst Montana | That's the info I found too. So actually it did have a purpose. I would guess that tractor component wise is probably no different then some of these home made tractors farmers built out of a semi you read about in Farm Show.

Lincoln, North Dakota | I've heard the same thing. I also heard that's the tractor that was responsible for the 8850's development. Dont know if any is true but interesting none the less. I wonder why they added the corner air stack and filter. First picture doesn't have an air stack on the corner of cab latter 2 it does. Edited by thorfarms 5/30/2016 21:52

Lincoln, North Dakota | According to some post back from 2010 on Red Power it was cut up after they shut the program down Found another big 2 wheel drive story http://www.producer.com/2014/01/worlds-biggest-honey-bees-created-b...

west central illinois | That's too bad. But by that time they had few years to live. International harvester sold its 33 1/3 ownership of Steiger in 1982.

That first picture with the weights under it kind of makes it look like a lawnmower. Or maybe a forklift without the mast.

w. wi. | I think under the tractor are dual spacers, I wish they would have put that tractor into production.
