southern MN | They only use that boost system on road courses, not on ovals. I believe tho indy is a square, it is considered an oval course.
Road courses can get pretty boring, follow the leader, no opportunity to pass a slightly slower car. So several of the road course series have come up with limited turbo boost plans so there are some chances to see cars actually pass each other on the long straights of the road courses.
