southern MN | Yea, that turbine blew away the competition, got $5 part failures at the end of the races that kept it from winning. Then as you say they got them restricted to no longer be competitive.
The 6 wheel cars were interesting too. 4 tiny front steering wheels.
Bobby Unser used to run an Indy car without a rear wing. That was when drafting was big in Indy cars, and without the wing there was little draft. It was hard for him to get traction of his own, but if he got out front nobody could then catch him.
We seem to remember the 'different' designs, and now all the series don't allow anything 'different' any more. Takes away some of the interest in motorsports.
