east central south dakota | Great question. We are doing research on that here as well. If you really have interest in knowing biomass and what amount of nutrients are being recycled into your system you should spend the time and a little money and send in a square yard worth of clipped biomass from the soil line up. And then choose a lab that does whole plant testing. It is remarkable on what you can learn. We are also taking the next years crop, after the cover crop and doing the same thing with the corn or soy to see what additional nutrients it can take up due to the cover crop and the diversity created by the covers and the biology etc. We offer this service at our lab. Email is in my profile. But I know of a few others that will do it in the states also. Honeywell Ag Services in Canada has done some research and offers this service, Chris is a good one to visit with about this as he has some good experience in this department of whole plant analysis.
