We were hammered last year but everything went in well. One benefit of the cover was that when it did rain hard we had much less corn trash float and smother the soybeans. The rye served to hold the residue in place by laying over it. Nice benefit. This is my third year of planting this way. I still had some worked ground that went to beans but only because of a rotation switch late in the winter. I have learned that I need to cut back on my rye seeding rate. Have been staying at 55# and that is just to thick by the time you get to planting season. Going to 40-45# for this fall.
