SCIA | Boy, it is sure funny how time and place changes a person's thought process. Read the OP and chuckled, then I remembered finishing a pond in N ILL. as a kid. Dad got this job for a guy we custom chopped for. We spread a layer of powder (must have been bentonite) and disced the crap out of the pond bowl. Spent 2/3 days with a 560 and 14' disc. Here, SC IA, dig a hole and it fills with water. Of all the ponds i have built here, only had to do something with one that had a sand vein in it. dug the vein out 4/5 feet deep and pushed some clay in.
If your soil is sand, I would use some type of liner, plastic or clay, not bentonite, as I am not sure it make sand seal unless you put down a bunch. | |
