mn | We started with a 3 point wheel rake for road ditches and some alfalfa. After going to a pull type one way rake, I never want to see the 3 point rake again! Do they rake the hay? Sure. But they leave a very uneven windrow. Also, you cant make a corner worth a dang. I think the biggest problem is every time the tractor turns slightly, the rake swings because it is on the 3 point. Got by for many years but it wouldn't be my first choice.
Edit to add. The roll a bar rake will do a better job on the flat ground. But, unless conditions are just right, it will tend to rope the hay. Good for baling, but not so good if you are trying to flip the hay to dry.
