I think your issue is in the syringe. We use to have the lumps until we quit using the easy auto syringes. A local vet had a demonstration at a meeting which I did not attend. He broke the auto syringes down to varying degrees and cleaned them like a farmer would and tested the surfaces for what remained. Anything short of total disassembly and sterilized with steam leaves bad things. Good luck
