You are seeing things the way you want to see them. The forecast out two weeks is above normal temps and precip for many areas. Warm weather is just what everyone needs. Granted, not everyone needs rain right now but warm temps are a plus. Still plenty of time for drought to kick in but the way you are cheerleading for it is disturbing. IF drought does materialize your observation about shallow rooted crops is relevant. I believe at this time there are far more crops that are well rooted than poor. I also think subsoil moisture is very good on average.
