North East Wimmera district of Victoria. | G'day from down under!
Dear wife has suffered from aching joints, knees especially, and back pain also, for years.
Finally asked a specialist what could be done. An X-ray looked a mess, and an MRI scan proved the case.
Specialist stated - keyhole clean up would be completely useless. Partial joint replacement would stress out the remainder of the knee, so full replacement is the only option. Chances of success - as in less pain and more mobility - in his opinion somewhere about 80 to 85%, because of the fibro myalgia, as against 90 to 95% for non fibro-m patients.
Technique used has changed considerably in recent years, and local anaesthetic used to overcome pain of surgery and get moving as soon as possible - like the day after surgery.
Always get excellent comment and advice here on NAT, so I [husband] wonder if there are any who wish to comment on their experience - especially in relation to the fibro myalgia component.
Thanks in advance. |
