Don't buy the cable that Hillbilly Techie linked to.  It only works on sata drives and your Hard drive is the old serial type.  The cable in the other link will work on either type of hard drive so get that one.  

Hillbilly Trechie did give you the right advice, don't buy old technology.  It could be the boot sector on your hard drive bad and then you would be stuck with an old pc.  Just get a new laptop.
