West Central Ohio | Yea, It can make keeping the weight off difficult, but I don't think it should be all that surprising that your metabolism is lower after losing a significant amount of weight.
I went from 212# down to 160# during about an 8 month period about 6 years ago and have been able to keep the weight off. I can tell you for a fact that i eat significantly less now to maintain the same weight than I did to maintain my heavier weight. Prior to my weight loss my resting heart rate was in the 90's and I would work up a sweat going up a flight of steps. Now my resting heart rate is in the 50's and I can run a 10k in about 53 minutes and really not feel overworked. I would guess my bod uses a LOT less fuel to maintain itself now than it used to.
My feeling is the the diet changes you make to lose weight better be something you can do for the long term because those changes will really become the norm for the rest of your life.
