East Central Kansas | Sounds like you dairy. If so that does take a lot of commitment to milk at least twice a day, 365 days/year. It takes a special person to make that kind of commitment. I doubt that many of us in ag today are willing to make such a commitment for 30-40yrs. I know I wouldn't. Can the operation survive, prosper, without the dairy? If so, I'd recommend shutting the dairy down. You'd have much more flexibility without the dairy. A full time job off the farm usually doesn't have much flexibility as far as hours, and for many, a 40hr work week is a myth. Do you have marketable skills that would allow you to earn a decent wage with benefits? | |
