I went through JJC's Ag program and they do an internship program and a lot of kids end up continuing their employment after the internship. I always thought of it as an audition for me and the farmer I was working for. If you go that route be prepared for interviewing lots of kids. I had a summer and then a spring internship and I probably went to at least 6-8 interviews before I/we found a match. One place I interviewed at there was 3 of us that rode together.
I find it amusing at times that production Ag has trouble finding people at times but when I took my first off farm job they told me they loved hiring guys that came from an Ag background because we knew what work was and how to get things done. | |
