Texas/New Mexico Stateline | First, I haven't really looked at it, other than to see what you were talking about. I would put ZERO value on the "collectible" value of those bars. Just because they have "limited issue" or special state stamping is worth nothing as an investment. About like buying Dale Earnhart plates a few months after he died. What are they worth today if you happen to see a set at a flea market? Not much.
If a person was inclined to buy gold or silver, they should only pay the market value by weight and quality. IMHO.
Precious metals as a general rule I am not an investor in. Everybody has been all excited about gold and silver the past 10 years or so. In the meantime I have been just plugging along investing in good mutual funds, beating the market average, and have made good growth all this time. If I had put that same money in precious metals, I would likely have less value than what I originally put in.
Also have been investing in land by paying down debt on farmland.
