Southeastern Tipton County, Indiana | SDman - 5/1/2016 11:48 ....and the sad thing is, you still don't have everything with you. Both the parts manager AND the customer get mad when you have $5-10K worth of parts on your service truck and you STILL don't have what you need. Part managers are getting more leery about service trucks running around with a high $$ of inventory in their trucks since they don't have full control over what's on the truck(techs aren't always the best at accounting for their parts inventory). In most places, it is the parts manager's responsibility for the inventory on the service trucks. Also, the Precision Farming guys can have $25-50K worth of parts on their truck pretty easy. With $5K color displays, $4-5K Nav controllers, $4-5K GPS receivers, it all adds up pretty quick. Again, the parts managers cringe at this because its a lot of $$$ of THEIR inventory that is running around in a service truck. It all adds up. That's the main reason it's not happening. If it did the service department would have to purchase the parts that would be on the truck(s). (lack of) Inventory control is why our service department has to buy and bill their own refrigerant. |
