Central Mo | A grain company put up a Huuuuge elevator several miles from here. Needed to put in a rail spur for the unit train loading, it was a farmed field with an acre or two of trees on it, they cleaned it up but there was a wetland determination in one corner of the property. I would say the rest of the field is Highly Erodible Land. It's been over 18 months and DNR,EPA or something is not allowing htem to build that rail spur over the wetland. They have an elevator full of grain and a couple of big piles on the ground ready to go. So, they aren't farming the ground and still arent' allowed to build. I'd say they pissed someone off. Ironic though, if we go to Kansas City or St Louis, they have developed the river bottoms around those cities, obvious wetlands, when out here we can't even build a machine shed in the bottom. |
