Kingston,Mi | Anhydrous Ammonia has virtually disappeared from the lower Thumb and with sugar beets and corn rotations, it was used widely. A few Pigeon Coop (Cooperative Elevator)fertilizer sites in the upper thumb still have AA setups ( crusin' on google). A RNaPBTO (real nice and polite big time operator) who farms around 7000 acres and has about 2000 acres of sugarbeets, built a liquid secondary containment that can hold (12) 30,000 gallon upright tanks for a total capacity of 360,000 gallons of various liquid formulations. They operate another farm about 30 miles from their home that has a smaller liquid storage setup, possibly 50,000 gallons.
There is 1 farmer in the lower Thumb that I am aware of that has an on farm AA tank with his own fleet of nurse tanks. | |
