West Cental Arkansas | In my neck of the woods $2900 per pair is a very expensive cow. Probably the reason your neighbor is telling you that you purchase the cows or don't get the pasture. I saw some first calf heifers with month old calves sell that didn't bring $1500. 2 year old heifers bred in 3rd period for $1200 and less.
This cow deal ain't what it used to be. Be thoughtful in what you do, you could end up working for a good number of years for nothing.
