Jim, no offense intended, but your not quite getting it either. Your suggestions about baiting mirror what I said above, but what your not getting is the bulls don't necessarily charge the handler, they start beating each other up. Your fellow Hereford breeder above completely gets it and correctly points out how many dollars damage they can do quick. Most of the time they could care less about you, but a novice could rapidly become collateral damage if you try to run in and break them up. Maybe with your old bull, young bull scenario you never see that behavior, and I'll repeat while docility is great, that's not the answer to handling a lot of bulls. Please don't take offense to this post, but a lot of novices (not you) and hobbyist's (not you again) read on here, and shouldn't be fooled into thinking you can tame bull behavior out of them. While we're on the subject, a bull ring is a good idea for some people, although we've never used one.
