Subject: Sick Lamb Question

Sort of Central to North Central Iowa

I had a lamb that was looking uncomfortable last night.  It is about six weeks old, still with ewe, a good doing triplet.  It was lying down and would let me approach it and touch it without getting up.  When I got it up, it stood with its head back, rear legs slightly bent and its back slightly bent down.  It was breathing normally, it looked filled out.  It urinated and defecated normally.  Its backside was dry.  It laid back down.  I got it up a second time, it walked in a circle with its head back ( looking at an upward angle), eyes pretty wide open.  After a minute it laid back down ( on its belly, legs tucked under).  I treated it with some penn. G, for lack of any better idea.

This morning it is lying on its side, head back (neck stretched up and back).  I realize it is going to die, but was looking for any insight as to what may be wrong with it.  I don't think it overate or has pnuemonia.

Thank  you,

Dave
