I'll take a wild stab at it. Is there a chance that inside on the cone that it is rusty or a little rough. I have one sitting back in the shed we haven't used since hog feeding days, and when I tried to crack some corn for the cows it did the same thing. I'm thinking somebody (probably me) put some rained on corn in it and then it rusted a little. We don't use it anymore, so really never tried to shine it up. Post back in please if you figure it out.
