Death comes to us all. Life's but a walking shadow | Normally Feb is the critical period for pod filling for the majority of Brazil's soybean crop. But because of the seriously delayed planting and replanting (up until Jan 15th) pod filling has been pushed back. And it's beginning to get dry there again. We know that yields of the early planted beans were "disappointing". We won't really know the outcome of Brazil's bean crop for another few weeks (and they aren't going to tell us either, if they even know). I would bet that Brazilian growers and merchants have used the current price uncertainty to back themselves out of some of their forward sales as well.
Furthermore, once we get into spring there's no reason to sell until we see how planting is going because there is a real chance that planting delay will boost prices at least temporarily. And after that there's alway the July weather. My beans are going to sit in the bin until I really need the money or I need the room. |
