Larry im sure the latter. I lived in a couple houses like that no inside bathroom till we put one in . they were hard to heat I really like the old pictures. Grandmals house had wall paper on the walls and when the wind out of the north in Jan blew the wall paper would shake. It would cause a fellow to stand near the old warm morning coal stove and get one side of your body warm and the other side nearly would freeze. You would not carry water upstairs in a glass and leave it half full it would freeze and burst part of the time.Time such as that gives a fellow incentive to improve ones living conditions ha ha.She had a pitcher pump in the kitchen and you primed it every time you used it. That way it would not freeze up at night. grandmal always cook with coal wood stove. She was a very good cook, I didnt mean to steal the post just add to the conditions in some of the houses in my state.
