For those who think they would like to go back there I notice the house has 2 chimneys so they might consider how much wood they would need to cut for those.
BTW no power chainsaws in 1915 but you might learn how to sharpen an axe and a 2 man cross cut saw.
Whoever took those pictures must have been a serious photographer.
That equipment and supplies for it would have taken a chunk out of the grocery budget and they took some artistic pictures too with the snow on the shrubs.
I wondered how many noticed the ladder on the roof in the last picture and then how many know why it was there.
Is that a third chimney on the addition at the rear as seen in the third picture or just the valley on the roof of the main house?
If it is a chimney it was probably a 'summer kitchen' and only used in the heat of the summer to help keep the house cooler when they had to use a wood stove to cook meals and heat water. | |
